Great Langdale, June 2006
Trip report
No matter what may happen while you're there, Langdale will always be an awe-inspiring place!
17/07/06: Trip report now fully online. Thanks for your patience!
A big proportion of my mountain walking and scrambling up until now has been based at Great Langdale in the Lakes. I've been there six or seven times, and I've grown to know the mountains of this valley better than any other. It's also a place of great variety, where I've encountered all kinds of weather, days of outstanding quality that I remember vividly, mediocre days that were quickly forgotten ... in fact my very best and worst days ever spent on the hill.
Despite a very promising forecast, ambitious yet achievable plans, and an enthusiastic frame of mind, things started to go wrong from the very start. If the April trip to Langdale was the best trip ever, this was certainly the worst!
However all was not a complete loss: I got some quality scrambling done, touched four summits, and climbed two entirely new fells I'd never walked on before. I have also now summitted every mountain and hill in the "Langdale Circuit" at least once. Read on to find out more!
