Sunset from Glyder Fawr
On the 18th of November 2005, I departed from the doldrums of Norwich on a weekend trip to Snowdonia. This time, I wasn't running things: it was a University of East Anglia Fell Club trip, which meant that I was purely coming along for the ride, and had no part in organising anything. It was nice, in a way, to have no responsibility for a change ... but on the other hand it felt very odd not even having to take a map with me.
We were blessed with 100% perfect winter weather: cold temperatures, zero wind, and visibility so clear you could see hilltops in Ireland from Tryfan. Different walkleaders were running different daily expeditions, and I ended up with a great bunch, some experienced in mountain walking, some complete novices. It was very refreshing to have such a varied mix of people to chat to.
The report has been broken up into an account for each day. I've also added a guest photo album, linked below.
Saturday: The Bochlwyd Horseshoe
Sunday: Snowdon
