In many ways, Snowdonia is more convenient than the Lakes for a hiker without private transport. The mountains are contained within a few compact ranges: Snowdon, Glyderau, Carneddau, Eifionedd and a few outliers such as the Rhinogs. The good news is that the Glyderau and Carneddau can be reached on foot from Ogwen. A base at Capel Curig, with access to a car, will enable you to reach the Snowdon range as well.
I don't walk as extensively in this area as the Lake District, but I plan to make at least one trip per year to North Wales, and eventually (fingers crossed!) I will have climbed all of the Welsh 3000ers. They are listed in the table below.
